Walk This Way: Walk a Path of Integrity

Every day you and I face a variety of choices regarding the path we take.  Many things influence our decisions for both good and bad, yet God wants us to choose daily to walk according to His ways .  Over the next 22 days I will be sharing from the devotional journal, “Walk This Way”, with the prayer that it helps you to grow in your walk with God as you pursue a greater understanding of the path He calls you to.

Here is day ten with an important reminder that walking God’s way will lead you on a path of integrity.

Walk a Path of Integrity

“I have heard the prayer and plea you have made before me; I have consecrated this temple, which you have built, by putting my Name there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.  As for you, if you walk before me in integrity of heart and uprightness, as David your father did, and do all I command and observe my decrees and laws, I will establish your royal throne over Israel forever, as I promised David your father when I said, ‘You shall never fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.’”
1 Kings 9:3-5 (NIV)

When you think of a person of integrity, who first comes to your mind?  Why?  Do you think you have a reputation as a person of integrity?  What do you do that would lead a person to conclude what they do about your level of integrity?  What things make it difficult to do the right things all the time?  What are some things that make it easier to keep your word even under difficult circumstances?

When Solomon finished building the temple, God made a conditional promise to establish Solomon’s throne over Israel if he would continually walk a path of integrity.  The consequences of a lack of integrity would be devastating to the nation of Israel.  As you pray, ask God to help you see areas of your life where your walk doesn’t match up with the Christian name tag you wear.  Pray that you would not only be knowledgeable about the Word of God, but that you would be devoted to practicing it in your daily walk.  Pray that your integrity would be a positive influence on the people around you.  Pray that the people around you would see a glimpse of God through your walk of integrity.

Walk This Way: Walk a Path of Immortality

Every day you and I face a variety of choices regarding the path we take.  Many things influence our decisions for both good and bad, yet God wants us to choose daily to walk according to His ways .  Over the next 23 days I will be sharing from the devotional journal, “Walk This Way”, with the prayer that it helps you to grow in your walk with God as you pursue a greater understanding of the path He calls you to.

Here is day nine with an important reminder that walking God’s way will lead you on a path of immortality.

Walk a Path of Immortality

“In the way of righteousness there is life; along that path is immortality.”
Proverbs 12:28 (NIV)

How long do you expect to live?  How long would you like to?  How much effort do you put into increasing your lifespan?  Do you know of people who have been labeled immortal because of the impact of their life on others long after they died?  What do you think it takes for a person to leave a godly legacy?  Is there a connection between the way you walk in this life and the path to immortality?

The Bible teaches that immortality is found on a path that follows the way of righteousness.  In seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, we can be adopted into the eternal family of God!  As you pray, ask God to help you examine the ways of your life compared to His righteousness.  Pray that you would daily choose a path that leads to immortality as you walk with Christ.  Pray that the path you walk would not only lead to eternal life, but that it would leave a legacy that illuminates the path for the generations that will follow you.  Pray that the people around you would join you on this path.

Walk This Way: Walk a Path of Humility

Every day you and I face a variety of choices regarding the path we take.  Many things influence our decisions for both good and bad, yet God wants us to choose daily to walk according to His ways .  Over the next 24 days I will be sharing from the devotional journal, “Walk This Way”, with the prayer that it helps you to grow in your walk with God as you pursue a greater understanding of the path He calls you to.

Here is day eight with an important reminder that walking God’s way will lead you on a path of humility.

Walk a Path of Humility

“He has showed you, O man, what is good.  And what does the LORD require of you?  To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
Micah 6:8 (NIV)

What comes to mind when you think of humility?  Do you think of strength or weakness or something in between?  Who do you know that you would describe as humble?  What about their life makes you think that about them?  Is it possible to be humble and a great leader at the same time?  Why or why not?  How do you think others would rate the level of humility that you exhibit in your life?  Would you be willing to ask them?

God speaks through the prophet Micah and says that one of the things He requires from us is that we would walk humbly with Him.  Perhaps one of the reasons He says that is because humility is necessary to do the other parts mentioned — act justly and love mercy.  As you pray, ask God to help you have an accurate view of who you are in His eyes.  Pray that your faithfulness in being who God has called you to be will help you live in humility.  Pray that your identity in Christ would allow you to live in a way that you don’t feel the need to prove yourself to those around you.  Pray that your life would be lived in such a way that people would know you as humble.

Walk This Way: Walk a Path of Holiness

Every day you and I face a variety of choices regarding the path we take.  Many things influence our decisions for both good and bad, yet God wants us to choose daily to walk according to His ways .  Over the next 25 days I will be sharing from the devotional journal, “Walk This Way”, with the prayer that it helps you to grow in your walk with God as you pursue a greater understanding of the path He calls you to.

Here is day seven with an important reminder that walking God’s way will lead you on a path of holiness.

Walk a Path of Holiness

“And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness.  The unclean will not journey on it; it will be for those who walk in that Way; wicked fools will not go about on it.”
Isaiah 35:8 (NIV)

Have you ever been turned away from a place or event because of a restriction on who could enter or attend?  How did it make you feel?  Have you ever been invited into a place or event that is normally restricted?  How does that feel?  What do you think about restaurants or places that have strict dress codes to enter?  Have you ever not gone somewhere because you didn’t want to conform to the expected standard?

God talks about a place of gladness and joy for those are redeemed.  A place where those ransomed by the Lord will walk in holiness.  It is a highway for all who would choose to walk a path of holiness in Christ.  As you pray, ask God to help you pursue a life of holiness that can only be found in Jesus.  Pray that you would daily put aside the garments that are stained by sin.  Pray for the wisdom to do away with all foolish thoughts and actions.  Pray that you would not falter in your walk as you allow God’s holiness to cover you.  Pray that the people around you would follow your example in walking a path of holiness.
