“I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.”

This week’s prayer emphasis will focus on knowing and living by the power of the resurrection.  As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, the magnificence of the event and what it accomplished can often overshadow how it was accomplished.  Paul understood that it was in the fellowship with the sufferings of Christ that he would know more of the power of the resurrection.  Pray that we would pay attention and learn the lessons that He continually teaches through the sufferings of life.  Pray for a view of life that can see beyond the grave and into an eternity in God’s presence.  Pray for a growing love for one another that will find ways to help them accept and live by the power of the resurrection.  Pray that the resurrection power in your life would produce a contentment of such magnitude that it could only come from God.

“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies.’”

As you pray this week, ask God to help you know the power of the resurrection in a way that gives you the courage to grow through the fellowship of suffering.  Pray that you would know Jesus as the only source of eternal life.  Pray that your belief in Jesus would give you the confidence of knowing your life will not end at the grave.  Pray that the resurrection of Jesus would be the source of comfort you offer to those who suffer.

This week’s prayer emphasis will focus on living a life that praises God in all that we do.  While the praise of the crowd was only temporary as Jesus made His way into Jerusalem, God’s desire is that your praise of Him continues from now throughout all eternity.  Instead of laying down palm branches and cloaks, we offer praise as we daily lay down our will, desire, and self in order to pick up His will, desire and Spirit.  Pray that your life of praise would lift up Jesus and reflect Him well to the community around you.  Pray for a growing unity among believers as we each pursue greater obedience to God and love for one another.  Please continue to pray for one another in the midst of these confusing and changing times.  Pray for discernment and wisdom to see beyond and through the divisiveness of this world so that you would love others as God loves both you and them.

“I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.”

As you pray this week, ask God to help you find joy in praising Him with every resource He has provided you.  Pray that you would always be found praising God each day that He gives you life.  Pray for eyes that see the many reasons to praise God each day.  Pray that you would daily offer to God the song of praise that He has already put in your heart.

Our Lifestyle of Prayer emphasis this week will focus on different aspects of unity from God’s perspective.  It seems nearly everyone loves the idea of unity, if people would just agree with me (what I say, what I like, what I want, what I . . .) though really we just want conformity, not unity.  Real unity comes when we decide it’s all about what God says, wants, and desires and not about me!  Use the suggestions each day, but most of all allow God’s Word to soak into your life and direct how you pray and who you pray for.  Pray for a unity of spirit among believers in general and among your church family in particular.  As you pray, listen for what God would have you to do. Pray for the courage to walk across any made up lines which divide us from one another, even as you stay within the lines of God’s Word.  Pray for discernment and wisdom to see beyond and through the divisiveness of this world so that you would love others as God loves both you and them

“Until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”
Ephesians 4:13 (NIV)

As you pray this week, pay attention to any changes and/or actions God would be calling you to make in that area.  Pray for the maturity to get along with one another as we all mature into a unity of faith.  Pray that your knowledge of Jesus would lead you to a unity of faith that results in growing into the fullness of Christ.
