“Jesus said to him, ‘Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham.  For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.’”
Luke 19:9-10 (NIV)

This week’s prayer focus is on the life we have in Christ.  Most of us have things that we protect and value because of the worth that we have given them.  We may even have things that we like to display for others to admire and appreciate because of how much they mean to us.  Nothing should have more value to us, or be appreciated in a greater way, than the life we have in Christ.  Pray that you would know and practice appropriate ways to not only protect that treasure, but to display it in ways that attract others to Jesus.  Pray about how God would have you reflect the nature of Jesus in seeking the lost in order to share with them about the life which can be found in  Christ.  Pray for a growing understanding, and practice, of the full life Jesus brings to all who come to Him.

“And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.”
Colossians 1:10 (NIV)

As you pray this week, ask God to help you more fully understand the treasure that has been given through the eternal life you have in Christ.  Pray that your life would bear good fruit because of the life you have in Christ.  Pray that you would live a worthy life through the fruit God produces in you.

“And he said: ‘I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.’”
Matthew 18:3 (NIV)

This week’s prayer emphasis will focus on encountering Jesus on the road of change.  A pursuit of God, and His pursuit of us, should lead us to a place where our need for a transformation of heart, mind, body, and soul is obvious.  God isn’t bringing change into our life simply for the sake of change, He brings change because we need it!  Just as our encounter with Jesus changes us, we must anticipate that the same transforming power of Jesus will change others.  Pray for the wisdom to know what God wants to change in your life, and the courage to be receptive to that change.  Pray that you would have patience with God, with yourself, and with others as the process of change takes place according to God’s will and timing.  Pray also for wisdom in knowing the things to remain steadfast in which shouldn’t change.  Pray for a daily desire to be more like Christ.

“For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”
Romans 15:4 (NIV)

As you pray this week, ask God to help you walk a road of change with Jesus.  Pray that  God’s Word would be an encouragement to you in any changes He wants to do in your life.  Pray that you would use God’s Word for teaching in ways which encourage others to embrace the changes they need.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Acts 1:8 (NIV)

This week’s prayer emphasis will focus on some simple ways that we can be a witness for Christ.  While most people reading this prayer guide would readily agree that the instruction from Jesus about being His witness wherever we go is for all believers, many of us struggle with what that actually looks like in everyday life.  Pray that you would understand and overcome the difficulty in doing the simple things which lead to being a faithful witness.  Pray for a refining of your thoughts, words, and actions so that your witness for Christ would be pure and clear.  Pray for the courage to live out your faith in a way that helps others have a greater desire to be in fellowship with Jesus so they can experience the transforming power of His love.

“But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:44 (NIV)

As you pray this week, ask God to help you keep it simple when it comes to being His witness.  Pray that your witness for Jesus would always make known His love for you and for those who you interact with.  Pray that you would grow in your love for people who live as enemies of Christ as your love becomes a witness to them of His love.
