Walk This Way: Walk a Path of Life

Walk This Way: Walk a Path of Life

Every day you and I face a variety of choices regarding the path we take.  Many things influence our decisions for both good and bad, yet God wants us to choose daily to walk according to His ways.  Over the next 19 days I will be sharing from the devotional journal, “Walk This Way”, with the prayer that it helps you to grow in your walk with God as you pursue a greater understanding of the path He calls you to.

Here is day thirteen with an important reminder that walking God’s way will lead you on a path of life.

Walk a Path of Life

“You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
Psalm 16:11 (NIV)

How would you describe the quality of your life?  What does your answer depend on?  Do you like the way that your life seems to be headed?  Why?  Does the idea of a path of life seem elusive to you?  Is your life filled with the joy and contentment that you think it ought to have?  What things usually make you feel joyful?  What brings a sense of contentment into your life?  Do you think your life would feel more complete if you had greater levels of joy and contentment?

David writes that God has made known to him the path of life.  Following this path of life would fill him with joy in God’s presence and eternal pleasures.  As you pray, ask God to make known to you the path of life that is found in Christ.  Pray that you would be filled with the courage to walk this path of life.  Pray for the wisdom to seek the eternal pleasures that God offers rather than the temporary pleasures of the world.  Pray that the joy you experience as you walk the path of life would spread into the lives of the people around you.  Pray that your walk would lead to life.

Walk This Way: Walk a Level Path

Walk This Way: Walk a Level Path

Every day you and I face a variety of choices regarding the path we take.  Many things influence our decisions for both good and bad, yet God wants us to choose daily to walk according to His ways .  Over the next 20 days I will be sharing from the devotional journal, “Walk This Way”, with the prayer that it helps you to grow in your walk with God as you pursue a greater understanding of the path He calls you to.

Here is day twelve with an important reminder that walking God’s way will lead you on a path that He makes level.

Walk a Level Path

“The path of the righteous is level; O upright One, you make the way of the righteous smooth. Yes, LORD, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts.
Isaiah 26:7-8 (NIV)

Do you enjoy walking?  Where is your favorite place to walk?  Why?  Why is walking a mountain trail typically more difficult than walking a city sidewalk?  What would make the mountain trail easier to walk?  Whether on a plateau or through mountainous terrain, a level path makes the journey less hazardous.  When rocks, tree roots, and other obstacles are removed, perhaps even asphalt laid down, we can walk a level path with little fear of tripping and falling.

God says that Christ makes our way smooth and our path level when we pursue the way of righteousness.  The righteousness we have in Christ removes the power of temptations that seek to make us stumble and fall.  As you pray, ask God to help you see the stumbling blocks that exist in the path you walk.  Pray that  your pursuit of a righteous life would lead you on a path that is level.  Pray that you would always follow a level path even when the way of life’s journey seems steep.  Pray that the people around you would notice your confident walk and also seek to walk a level path.

Walk This Way: Walk a Path of Justice

Walk This Way: Walk a Path of Justice

Every day you and I face a variety of choices regarding the path we take.  Many things influence our decisions for both good and bad, yet God wants us to choose daily to walk according to His ways .  Over the next 21 days I will be sharing from the devotional journal, “Walk This Way”, with the prayer that it helps you to grow in your walk with God as you pursue a greater understanding of the path He calls you to.

Here is day eleven with an important reminder that walking God’s way will lead you on a path of justice.

Walk a Path of Justice

“I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice, bestowing wealth on those who love me and making their treasuries full.
Proverbs 8:20-21 (NIV)

How do you define justice?  When you think of justice, is it punishment or restoration that first comes to mind — or something else entirely?  Does you answer to that differ based on who the justice is being applied to?  Should it?  How do you think God defines justice?  What do you like most about God’s sense of justice applied to you?  If your view is different from God’s view, what do you need to change?

When the Bible talks about justice, it generally refers to the practice of making things right again.  You must not only deal with the consequences of wrongdoing, but take the necessary steps to bring about restoration.  As you pray, thank God that His justice made a way to restore you unto Himself.  Pray that you would continually walk a path of justice that both notices the wrongs you do and follows God’s ways in making them right.  Pray that your sense of justice would always be grounded in the righteousness of God.  Pray that the people around you would always receive treatment from you that is fair and just.

Walk This Way: Walk a Path of Integrity

Walk This Way: Walk a Path of Integrity

Every day you and I face a variety of choices regarding the path we take.  Many things influence our decisions for both good and bad, yet God wants us to choose daily to walk according to His ways .  Over the next 22 days I will be sharing from the devotional journal, “Walk This Way”, with the prayer that it helps you to grow in your walk with God as you pursue a greater understanding of the path He calls you to.

Here is day ten with an important reminder that walking God’s way will lead you on a path of integrity.

Walk a Path of Integrity

“I have heard the prayer and plea you have made before me; I have consecrated this temple, which you have built, by putting my Name there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.  As for you, if you walk before me in integrity of heart and uprightness, as David your father did, and do all I command and observe my decrees and laws, I will establish your royal throne over Israel forever, as I promised David your father when I said, ‘You shall never fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.’
1 Kings 9:3-5 (NIV)

When you think of a person of integrity, who first comes to your mind?  Why?  Do you think you have a reputation as a person of integrity?  What do you do that would lead a person to conclude what they do about your level of integrity?  What things make it difficult to do the right things all the time?  What are some things that make it easier to keep your word even under difficult circumstances?

When Solomon finished building the temple, God made a conditional promise to establish Solomon’s throne over Israel if he would continually walk a path of integrity.  The consequences of a lack of integrity would be devastating to the nation of Israel.  As you pray, ask God to help you see areas of your life where your walk doesn’t match up with the Christian name tag you wear.  Pray that you would not only be knowledgeable about the Word of God, but that you would be devoted to practicing it in your daily walk.  Pray that your integrity would be a positive influence on the people around you.  Pray that the people around you would see a glimpse of God through your walk of integrity.

In prayer,

Tom
