“In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food!”
Hebrews 5:12 (NIV)
This week’s prayer emphasis will focus on unwrapping the gift of teaching and on our responsibility to teach. While some people have special roles of teaching, all of us are teachers of someone who is watching. So the question isn’t if you teach, but rather what are you teaching? God’s desire is that we learn and put into practice the truths of His Word so we would move beyond infancy and be able to teach accurately. Pray that you would live with humility as you learn so that you would teach others the value of putting the things of God into practice. Pray for those in specific roles of teaching — both those who teach in various school settings (public, private, homeschool, etc) as well as those who teach God’s Word within the church. Pray that you would be a teacher of the things you learn from God.
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”
2 Timothy 3:16 (NIV)
As you pray this week, ask God to help you realize how, and who, He would have you teach. Pray that you would know the necessity of Scripture in teaching that will bring about positive change. Pray that you would use scripture accurately in teaching that leads to a righteousness in your life and in those who learn from you.

This is such a timely and spiritually fortifying reflection on the indispensable role of Scripture in the life of a believer! I was deeply moved by the way you connected the ‘usefulness’ of the Word—for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training—directly to the act of encouragement. It’s a powerful reminder that true encouragement isn’t just about positive thinking, but about anchoring our souls in the objective, transformative truth of God’s breath-inspired promises.
I particularly appreciated the emphasis on how Scripture equips us for ‘every good work,’ suggesting that our prayer lives and our outward service are only as effective as they are rooted in biblical wisdom. Your call to not only read the Word but to let it ‘dwell in us richly’ is a beautiful challenge to move beyond surface-level devotions and into a deeper, more rigorous engagement with the text. This post serves as a wonderful exhortation to trust that God has provided us with everything we need for life and godliness through His Word. Thank you for sharing such a grounded, Gospel-centered perspective that inspires both a more disciplined study and a more fervent prayer life!
You’re welcome! And thank you for the encouragement.
